The cottage a former farm building has been carefully and tastefully restored to retain French rustic charm at the same time offering modern comfort and convenience. La Porcherie can accommodate up to eight people on one level.
The property is fully tiled throughout and has an entrance hall, off which leads the main bathroom. The other door leads you to a spacious open plan Lounge(Sofa bed) / dining / kitchen, off which are three double bedrooms. The master bedroom has double bed with ensuite bathroom the two other bedrooms are doubles one of which has Twin beds.
The lounge has comfortable seating with TV/DVD and CD player. There is a ceiling fan for the hot summer days. The dining table is central to the room with ample seating for up to eight people. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes microwave, gas cooker, fridge, toaster, kettle and washing machine. |

St Germier is a hamlet surrounded by fields of mostly cereal crops. This makes it an ideal area for gentle walking and cycling as there are many cross country routes and quiet lanes.
The hamlet is very quiet with very little traffic apart from the occasional tractor. There is a large lawned area in front of the cottage for play. (Badminton, football, swing ball and boules supplied).
Garden furniture and sun parasol are provided for al fresco dining and also a BBQ freely available to guests. Cycles are also available for hire.
The swimming pool, which is shared with the owners, is heated and measures 10m x 5m and is beautifully sheltered for sunbathing and relaxing. Stone paving surrounds the pool, which is fenced for your children’s safety and security.
The village also has its own lake with picnic tables, swings and slides. If you are out and about early in the morning or at dusk, you may well see one of our Ragondin who hide on a tiny island to one edge of the water

La Bois Pourvous is only a five-minute drive away and on a hot day it is a welcome respite from the summer heat. It has a large fishing lake, picnic tables and a play area and offers plenty of shade beneath the forest canopy.
There are a couple of safe, clean swimming lakes close to the village, both of which offer changing facilities and a choice of bars and restaurants at the water's edge.
A splendid 27-hole golf course can be found at Chateau Des Forges, only six miles from St Germier. It offers a good mixture of golf for both low and high handicappers at very reasonable rates.There are a further five golf courses within easy reach.
The nearest town is St Maxient L'Ecole which is a garrison town for the French armed forces. Here you will find a choice of supermarkets for all your shopping needs. There is also a large market on Saturdays and a variety of shopping, restaurants and bars. The excellent larger towns of Niort and Poitiers are within a 30-minute drive from St Germier and are well worth a visit as they are both steeped in history. A little north of Poitiers is Futurescope, one of the most popular attractions of France and an exciting full-day experience for adults and children alike. Close by is the Puy du Fou a huge theme park with Gladiators, Chariot racing, medieval village and renowned exhibitions of birds of prey, less then 30 miles away. And for that swim in the sea your just an hour away from La Rochelle, with its wonderful choice of seafood restaurants, popular aquarium, and its atlantic surf/ beaches.
