A stone built, completely restored, longere on the edge of the tiny village of Berreau set in the heart of Loire Atlantique, close to golf courses and beaches.
Four spacious bedrooms (one on the ground floor) and two bathrooms, in a suntrap of a walled mature terraced garden facing South West.
This beamed and well-equipped house enjoys delightful views of the surrounding countryside and sleeps 8 – 12.
Berreau is 4 kilometres from the charming market town of Pontchateau and 30 minutes from the sophisticated La Baule Resort, with its miles of sandy beaches, and 45 minutes from the historic city of Nantes, for the second year running voted the best place to live in France.
ACCOMMODATION
The living room features a wood-burning fireplace and the living/dining area is 60 square metres, with two patio windows to the terraced garden.
The 20 square metre kitchen is well equipped and includes dishwasher and fridge-freezer. There is also a new clothes washer and new tumble dryer and other essential equipment such as oyster shucking knives! (The stretch of coast from Quimper to La Baule boasts some of the worlds finest oyster beds).
Downstairs there is a twin bedroom, bathroom and separate wc (suitable for disabled or elderly).
Upstairs there are three further bedrooms, all are large and the largest one (30ft x 30ft) has zip link twin beds and a double sofa bed, one of the others has a double and a single bed and there is a further large twin bedded room. A cot is also available.
The lawned and terraced garden is completely secure when the large iron entrance gates are closed and there is a Webber kettle barbecue and two others available.
A substantial supply of logs is available at all times for the log burning fire in the living room.
There is also outdoor table-tennis, and 2 bicycles.

THE AREA
Whilst in a regional re-organisation in the early 1980’s Loire Atlantique became part of The Pays de la Loire, many locals still think of it as Southern Brittany and consider themselves as Breton. The department starts just south of Redon and incorporates the Atlantic Coast from La Baule to Pornic and takes in the famous freshwater marshland of the Parc de la Briere, which can be explored on foot, by bike, boat or on horseback. The regional capitol, sitting on the banks of the Loire, is the historic city of Nantes.
La Baule, 30 minutes away, a famous and sophisticated resort which really buzzes in the evening, has beautiful beaches, safe bathing and great restaurants, and all along the Cote Sauvage are delightful little ports and beaches.
A little North is the Morbihan Gulf. This wonderful little sea of Brittany is a maze of sandbanks and green islands, flooded twice a day by the Atlantic. The historic towns of Vannes and Auray, the standing stones of Carnac and the long Quiberon peninsula lie on or around the shores of the Morbihan. Vannes, which sits at the Easterly edge of the Morbihan, is especially worth a visit.
Sailing and boating is readily available on the Loire, in the Morbihan, La Vilaine and from the numerous ports and marinas along the coast. Ferries also go regularly to the delightful islands just off the coast.

GOLF &THE TEE TO GREEN GOLF SOCIETY
All who stay at our home in Berreau will be given honorary membership of the Tee to Green Golfing Society, which has arranged special discounts with most of the golf courses within an hour of Berreau.
There are 27 golf courses within an hour of the house including two superb championship courses at La Baule and the stunning Chateau La Bretesche course (ten minutes) in the grounds of the magnificent old Chateau.
Only 3.5 kilometres from Berreau is the magnificent Chateau La Bretesche. An excellent golf course, in beautiful surroundings, supported by good clubhouse facilities with the added bonus of a splendid restaurant in the Chateau.
La Baule has two excellent courses and has superb facilities, including a swimming pool, whilst also close by is Golf de Savenay which has a par 73 and a nine hole par 30. There are two enjoyable courses at Nantes – Nantes Erdre and Nante Vigneux, both good parkland courses, plus 20 odd other courses, not taking into account others, in Britanny, just North of Loire Atlantique.
