| Brief description: |
Part of the ancient farm complex at Mescouel this rural gite overlooks the wooded valley of the River Douffine in the Parc d'armorique and is ideally placed for exploration and relaxation in this beautiful area of moors woods and dramatic coastline. |
| Full description: |
The gite dates from the mid 19th century and is built of traditional Breton stone. Originally a small barn adjacent to our cottage, it was completely renovated in 2001 and now combines Breton charm with all modern facilities and comfortable accomodation. It shares a courtyard frontage with the cottage and has its own secluded terrace garden area to the rear with views across the surrounding countryside. The position is entirely rural, set back in its own access off very quiet country lane. Its seclusion means that at night time the only sounds are the owls and the complete lack of light spill from other sources make it an astronomers dream or stargazers heaven. |

This lovely area of Finistere is criss crossed by footpaths and country lanes and provides a wealth of opportunity to explore the beautiful breton countryside on foot, by bicycle or in your car. There is a wealth of flora and fauna and the spring wild flowers in our lane are a constant joy to us.The Nante/Brest canal is a short drive and is a lovely area for canoeing fishing or strolling the river banks. The stunning coastline is about 30mins drive with beaches so empty they are a popular destination for the residents of the south of france escaping the crowded beaches of the Med. There are ample opportunities for shopping and dining in the various surrounding Towns and villages and the cities of Brest and Quimper are 1/2 hour in each direction. |
