Brittany for the fisherman.
No matter where you go in Brittany you can be sure you will find unspoilt rivers, ponds, lakes with an abundance of fish just waiting to be caught! Making my way into Callac, our local small market town set in the heart of Brittany, yet still only 35mins by car to the stunning and coastline I find trout streams, a pond at a local restaurant and then once you enter Callac a large lake right in the heart of this lovely local town.
You can venture down to the lake in Callac most mornings to find some of the locals fishing with tackle which seems to be aimed at catching pike of 20lb or more, so when you realise they are in fact fishing for trout you could be forgiven for sniggering a little to yourself.
Moving a little further a-field to Carhaix you can find the Nantes/Brest canal skimming the outskirts of the slightly larger yet local town. Finding a good spot to fish is so simple and the chance of seeing another angler is I am glad to say nearly impossible.
Just imagine a canal full of Roach, Perch, Bream and Pike amongst others and it’s all yours.
I have fished endless areas of this great canal and have never gone home with a dry net catching great bags of bream and roach.
Indeed fishing in Brittany is a real pleasure, so pay us a visit and” tight lines can really mean tight lines
